Really… there’s not much more to say. For the second time in three years one of my MAXTOR hard drives crashed and crashed big. I lost a ton of data and lots of applications. I am not a happy camper. Yes, I have backups, but many of them are not very recent. I also lost all my iPod music… this means then when I plug my iPod back into my PC it will wipe itself clean, seeing how iTunes is now empty. Yay.
I can slowly reload things if I can find them, but this is seriously no fun with a baby on the way and a million other things to do.
To add insult to injury I have a legal Windows XP CD which loads Windows and then claims to be an illegal copy. Thank you, Microsoft.
Over the next couple days I think I’m simply going to buy a completely new PC and salvage what I can data-wise.
*sigh*

I’ve received both the blue screen of death AND the black screen of fuck you on my laptop in the last week, so you have my sympathies.

if you change your ipod preferences to manually manage your music, you should be able to move your songs back onto the computer, or at least add music to the ipod without wiping it clean…

Yes, I have now learned to never, ever again give Maxtor a penny of my time or money again.
I am slowly trying to figure out what I lost and what I didn’t lose. I think I lost all my email but I did find a recent backup of most of my photos.
Yes, I think I can pull the music off my ipod and put it on my PC. It will be messy, but it can be done. I used to have all my music neatly arranged in artist and album folders. The iPod just shoves all the tracks together into numbered folders and renames the files.
No fun….
