Monday Links

March 5th, 2007 - Wasting Time
Knitted Breasts
It’s not porn if you can buy it at a craft show.

Thought I’d just make your Monday a little less dreary with a few links from around the world…

Knitted Breasts - Breasts just like Grandma used to sew. My favorite quote in this BBC news item is from a lactation consultant (look it up) who states quite plainly, “You can buy model breasts, but they cost around £35 each, which is quite prohibitive, as we need about 50.” My high school years would have been much less formidable if I’d known I could buy a breast model instead of spending all my energy chasing down the real thing.

Steampunk Star Wars Drawings - Eric Poulton is a professional video game artist who draws and blogs on the side. He’s started drawing some of the Star Wars characters in a steampunk fashion and they’re quite entertaining. He only has a few so far, but a lot of people are hoping he keeps going until George Lucas shows up at his door and slices out his kneecaps with a lightsaber.

GeekLikeMe.net - More geek links on a regular basis than most people can read at one time. How he finds time for it is beyond me, but there’s always some good stuff there.

ModeratelyAnnoyed.com - I don’t like to mention politics in this blog because, let’s face it, who’s going to have a political discussion with a guy who puts up links to things like Knitted Breasts. But I ran across a new blog that’s simply pointing out a lot of the things that drive us all nuts in politicals and the world in general. ModeratelyAnnoyed.com doesn’t really take a side as much as it seems to voice the opinions of most average moderate Americans. It’s got a refreshingly professional look and style to it, too. Very much unlike this blog.

Links To Help You Waste Your Day

September 22nd, 2006 - Wasting Time

I just thought I’d post some of the links I’ve seen or found in the past week or two of surfing the web on the company’s time. Most of these links have absolutely no redeeming value and viewing them will, more than likely, cause more harm than good. They’re all “safe for work” (sfw)….

Monkeybagel - An well-written site about, well, I’m not entirely sure. Clearly has some good points about the stupidity of the workplace and has some very funny essays.

McSweeneys List of Things My Boss Said To Me Without Elaboriating - short list, good for some laughs or looks of horror. Your choice. Lots of fun tidbits on this site.

So, you want to kill a coworker but forgot to bring your semi-automatic to the office and your submachine gun is in the shop? No problem… Just check out Officeguns.

Ferry Halim Flash Games - Finally, some eerily cute and charming Flash games. These games are unsettlingly calming….

Mentos and Diet Coke Bellagio Fountains

June 7th, 2006 - Wasting Time

So, maybe you’ve been living under a rock. Maybe you haven’t had an internet connection, working email address, television or hand held radio. Maybe you have no friends and no one has spoken to you in months.

Then you certainly need to be cheered up with this video that’s been sweeping the nation (world?) as the next cool thing until next week comes along: a video of two guys creating a mini version of the Las Vegas Bellagio Fountains created with 2 liter bottles of Diet Coke and lots of Mentos. They put the video with a catchy little soundtrack on their EepyBird website.

The website has a few other videos and brief explanation of how this was done. These guys were even featured on All Things Considered this afternoon.

I really, really wish I had that much free time…
